More Video Blackjack Approval From New York Governor
On Monday, New York Governor David Paterson approved two big proposals that promise to bring more gambling to locals.
To build a $700 million casino in Bridgeville, the first move he made was to approve a plan by the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians. Complete with slots halls, table games, and other casino games, this will be a full-fledged gambling center.
Monticello Casino & Raceway is six miles from the site of the new casino. It also runs a small video gambling business. The Governor approved a $100 million expansion plan, concerned for the future of the Monticello racino. This expansion plan will bring to the gambling hall, 60 new electronic casino tables including blackjack card games, craps and baccarat.
Monticello gambling hall expansion will allow it to compete against the new Stockbridge-Munsee casino when it opens its doors. Since Monticello has opened, it has generated more than $7.4 million for local governments and $190 million for education. Therefore, many have vested interest in its survival. The racino can survive, most people are confident about it.
Both the proposed Stockbridge-Munsee casino and the Monticello video gambling hall have a lot of competition to contend, as more blackjack coming to New Jersey and the neighboring state of Pennsylvania recently legalized table games. However, players will be more likely to gamble a little closer to home, as local casino offerings improve.
