On Wednesday six casinos in Atlantic City, were fined a total of $115,000. The vast majority of the fines leveled against the five major casino properties involved blackjack card games, and included violations such as dealer and player collusion, cheating, theft and underage gambling.

For failing to properly monitor blackjack tables where a dealer conspired with a player to steal over $21,500 within a 21 week time frame in early 2009, Tropicana Casino and Resort paid a $40,000 fine. The scam was uncovered by an observant player at the table who remembered the same blackjack dealer consistently overpaying a particular player on winning hands and rarely taking away the player’s chips on loosing hands, according to casino gambling news. After being contacted by the observant player and began to closely monitor and record the suspected dealer casino security became aware of the scam. The dealer quickly confessed and was immediately arrested after being confronted with irrefutable evidence recorded on multiple casino security tapes.

For allowing an underage 20 year old man to play blackjack for forty five minutes in early 2010, Atlantic City Hilton Casino Resort paid a $15,000 fine.

Caesars Atlantic City was fined $10,000 because of a malfunctioning alarm system, in another case. When a robber held up a cashier’s cage on July 20, 2009, the alarm did not work and he walked away with $8,000. The alarm failed to go off to alert security guards, even though the cashier hit a button to activate.

Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino and Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort were each fined $20,000 and the Atlantic City Hilton Casino Resort was slapped with a $15,000 penalty for allowing underage patrons to gamble. The legal age for casino gambling in New Jersey is 21.
